Radio Gear for Vacation

I went to Bonaire for two weeks, scuba diving and snorkeling.  I wanted to take some radio gear.

And so I did… about 50 pounds worth!

In this video, I share with you the gear I chose to take and I reveal some important lessons I learned…

  1. Cliff,
Great work! I think I will shut the shack down and go see what my 11 year old son is up to.
I will be ordering a KX3 in the next few weeks

    1. Sounds like a good plan, Don – on both action items.
You’re going to be amazed at the performance of that KX3. Congrats!

  2. Hi Cliff. I was first licensed 35 years ago, but have been inactive for the past 20 years. I recently stumbled upon your website, and it rekindled my interest in amateur radio, especially QRP. I have since purchased a used K1 and am enjoying the simplicity of low power operation. Your videos are great and I’m sure many people appreciate your efforts. Keep up the good work! 73, Bryan WU5M

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Bryan.

Good choice on the K1. It’s a neat little rig! Mine has quite a bit of drift for about 5 minutes after I turn it on. After that, it’s stable. This is a common issue and it’s the only complaint I have about my K1. It’s simple enough to turn it on in advance and putter around while it warms up and stabilizes. Enjoy!

Warning: QRP radios are addictive! 🙂
